《金刚》之所以引起人们的瞩目，应该追溯到1933年，好莱坞第一版本的《金刚》就是在这一年放映，影片中大金刚站在帝国大厦楼顶，同飞机大炮作殊死搏斗这一场景时，人们对此画面记忆深刻，尽管这是一部黑白版的影片，但仍然获得了票房大卖的好成绩，同时这部1993年版的《金刚》也成为特效电影的经典之作。意大利裔制片家劳伦蒂斯在1976年，耗费了相当于今天6500万美元的巨资将1933年黑白版的《金刚》重拍成彩色版的《大金刚》，影片的故事情节并无太大的变动，只是大金刚的战斗地点从帝国大厦移师到了世贸中心双子楼，虽然彩色版相较于黑白版而言，并无太多新颖的卖点，但仍然获得了人们的认可。或许是人们对《金刚》念念不忘的情怀使然，或许是彼得·杰克逊的名气，亦或许玩家对Ubisoft的信心，无论是电影版或游戏版的《金刚》，都将再次掀起“金刚”热潮。
直至目前为止，Ubisoft对于《金刚》的宣传还是“犹抱琵琶半遮面”，也许是游戏剧情本身以广为人知，再则游戏本身具有一定的影响力，让Ubisoft并没有大肆的宣传，只是处于半公开化的状态。这一点可以从今年的E3大展上看出，尽管现场观摩者有幸倾听到奥斯卡金牌导演彼得·杰克逊和Ubisoft知名制作人米歇尔·安塞尔（Michel Ancel，代表作有《超越善恶》（Beyond Good and Evil.）等，他还是《雷曼》（Rayman）系列之父）的共同解说，但在大展上，也只公布了一段10分钟左右的游戏视频演示，非常的不过瘾，这让许多渴望能真正了解游戏详细内容的玩家来说，或许是个小小的遗憾。不过，可以确定的是，游戏画质非常精美，游戏与电影是融合为一体的，正如彼得·杰克逊所说，“能够同Ubisoft合作是至关重要的，这也是为什么我们让Ubisoft毫无约束的探究电影方方面面的原因之一，我们就是想让游戏和电影成为同一个世界的两部分。”因此，在游戏中，你照样可以尽情享受电影版的动感体验。
为了实现彼得·杰克逊所期望的游戏中的电影化效果，游戏视角也采用主视角和俯视角来回切换的方式来表现游戏中一正一邪的两大人物，杰克·迪瑞克（Jack Driscoll）和大金刚，整个游戏画面没有任何图标显示，仅仅通过大量文字来描述游戏的剧情走向，这也让不少玩家觉得纳闷，在游戏过程中，玩家如何得知某些重要的信息呢？也许只有等游戏上市才知其中的奥妙吧。视角的转换更忠实于原创电影，不仅加强了游戏故事情节，也让游戏看起来更像一部电影。甚至于游戏版的制作也得到了维达·德特 （Weta Digital）的大力协助，他曾因为为《魔戒》三部曲制作特效而获得了奥斯卡诸多奖项，他将电影版中的大量特效运用到游戏版中。与之相对应的，游戏电影化所带来的弊端也是显而易见的，尽管UBisoft的公关经理麦克尔·巴迪（Michael Beadle）一再强调，“实际上，玩家在游戏中并不会产生无法完整体验整个冒险过程的感觉，主视角和俯视角之间的转换也是极为自然流畅的，玩家不再是一个被动的事件观察者，而是全新的融入故事之中，同时体验杰克·迪瑞克和金钢两个角色各自所面临的不同危机。”但这样的说法仍然让人质疑，毕竟视角的来回转换总会让游戏剧情被分割开来，玩家也不能完完整整的体验到冒险的过程，或许从玩家的角度来说，就是牺牲游戏的连贯性，换取游戏的视觉冲击。
既然说道电影特效在游戏中的大量运用，那么现在就让我们去领略一番，在E3大展演示片段中，一开始，游戏以杰克·迪瑞克的主视角来展开剧情，他躺在悬崖边上昏迷不醒，在远处的一个悬崖上正在举行古老的祭祀活动，一个名叫安妮·达罗（Ann Darrow）女孩作为献给骷髅岛之神“金刚”的祭品，而被帮在木架上，木架突然从悬崖上滚落下来，由于害怕惊恐，安妮·达罗不停的发出惊恐的尖叫，就在此时，巨大的金刚捶胸顿足咆哮着走出来，他四处张望着，抓起安妮·达罗就迅速的消失在丛林之中，紧接着，两名探险家救了你，你们离开悬崖，但是却受到土着长矛的攻击，你们被迫无奈也尾随着进入丛林，寻找金刚和安妮·达罗的踪迹，并最终逃出这片危机四伏的热带雨林。在演示片段的最后一幕，切换到金刚俯视角，充满了恐龙的画面似乎将我们带到了侏罗纪的世界，不过，金刚毕竟是金刚，他的战斗实力不容小觑，只见这个庞然大物一顿足，就将恐龙震倒在地，然后冲上前去，丝毫不畏惧恐龙的撕咬，双拳出击将其打倒在地。片段中的游戏冒险地点设定在有着壮观的天然美景的骷髅岛上，那里有着茂密的丛林，是巨大的古生物恐龙的世界，当玩家踏上这片致命的恐怖之地时，就面临着重重危机。虽然从演示片段中可以清晰的看出，在演示动画中看似游戏侧重点放在杰克·迪瑞克的主视角上，但游戏世界是以人类同恐龙大战，以及大猩猩与恐龙之间的较量所组成的，因此，玩家、金刚和侏罗纪缺一不可。
游戏中古生物的AI非常高，他们总是会想方设法将杰克·迪瑞克和他的队友逼到角落，再慢慢的凌虐，游戏中一般的武器，诸如火矛以及冲锋枪，只能将恐龙等巨型生物击退两米左右的距离，你所能作的只是将它的速度减缓，并不能真正的对他们造成伤害，如果是强劲威力的武器，就可以杀死超大型的蜈蚣（我想制作小组想表达的应该是迅猛龙之类的吧，不过造型看上去真的很像大蜈蚣）、或是翼龙等生物。演示动画中就有这样一幕场景，你驾驶木筏顺流而下，不幸被一个翼龙将木筏凿出一个洞，而此时岸上正有两只虎视耽耽的霸王龙追逐着你，你拿出手枪，向翼龙射击，射杀翼龙之后，一只霸王龙开始啃食翼龙的尸体，但另一只霸王龙仍然对你穷追不舍，木筏速度减慢了，就在霸王龙即将抓住你的时候，点燃一根火把，投向岸边的灌木丛，引燃大火，阻止霸王龙的脚步。当你面对数量众多的生物时，你可以选择逃跑，或选择跳入河水中，不过，千万别以为就此逃过一劫，河水中照样是危险重重，先不说湍急的河水会把你冲向那里，单是水下的暗礁和四处游弋的食人鱼就会让你的漂流旅程充满危机，如果你想上岸。岸边徘徊不走的恐龙会非常乐意你自动送上门，所以要想在古生物充斥的世界中生存下来，可不是一件容易的事情，玩家需要充分利用周围的环境，丛林中有随处可捡拾的木棒等武器。
