《金剛》之所以引起人們的矚目，應該追溯到1933年，好萊塢第一版本的《金剛》就是在這一年放映，影片中大金剛站在帝國大廈樓頂，同飛機大炮作殊死搏鬥這一場景時，人們對此畫面記憶深刻，盡管這是一部黑白版的影片，但仍然獲得了票房大賣的好成績，同時這部1993年版的《金剛》也成為特效電影的經典之作。義大利裔製片家勞倫蒂斯在1976年，耗費了相當於今天6500萬美元的巨資將1933年黑白版的《金剛》重拍成彩色版的《大金剛》，影片的故事情節並無太大的變動，只是大金剛的戰斗地點從帝國大廈移師到了世貿中心雙子樓，雖然彩色版相較於黑白版而言，並無太多新穎的賣點，但仍然獲得了人們的認可。或許是人們對《金剛》念念不忘的情懷使然，或許是彼得·傑克遜的名氣，亦或許玩家對Ubisoft的信心，無論是電影版或游戲版的《金剛》，都將再次掀起「金剛」熱潮。
直至目前為止，Ubisoft對於《金剛》的宣傳還是「猶抱琵琶半遮面」，也許是游戲劇情本身以廣為人知，再則游戲本身具有一定的影響力，讓Ubisoft並沒有大肆的宣傳，只是處於半公開化的狀態。這一點可以從今年的E3大展上看出，盡管現場觀摩者有幸傾聽到奧斯卡金牌導演彼得·傑克遜和Ubisoft知名製作人米歇爾·安塞爾（Michel Ancel，代表作有《超越善惡》（Beyond Good and Evil.）等，他還是《雷曼》（Rayman）系列之父）的共同解說，但在大展上，也只公布了一段10分鍾左右的游戲視頻演示，非常的不過癮，這讓許多渴望能真正了解游戲詳細內容的玩家來說，或許是個小小的遺憾。不過，可以確定的是，游戲畫質非常精美，游戲與電影是融合為一體的，正如彼得·傑克遜所說，「能夠同Ubisoft合作是至關重要的，這也是為什麼我們讓Ubisoft毫無約束的探究電影方方面面的原因之一，我們就是想讓游戲和電影成為同一個世界的兩部分。」因此，在游戲中，你照樣可以盡情享受電影版的動感體驗。
為了實現彼得·傑克遜所期望的游戲中的電影化效果，游戲視角也採用主視角和俯視角來回切換的方式來表現游戲中一正一邪的兩大人物，傑克·迪瑞克（Jack Driscoll）和大金剛，整個游戲畫面沒有任何圖標顯示，僅僅通過大量文字來描述游戲的劇情走向，這也讓不少玩家覺得納悶，在游戲過程中，玩家如何得知某些重要的信息呢？也許只有等游戲上市才知其中的奧妙吧。視角的轉換更忠實於原創電影，不僅加強了游戲故事情節，也讓游戲看起來更像一部電影。甚至於游戲版的製作也得到了維達·德特 （Weta Digital）的大力協助，他曾因為為《魔戒》三部曲製作特效而獲得了奧斯卡諸多獎項，他將電影版中的大量特效運用到游戲版中。與之相對應的，游戲電影化所帶來的弊端也是顯而易見的，盡管UBisoft的公關經理麥克爾·巴迪（Michael Beadle）一再強調，「實際上，玩家在游戲中並不會產生無法完整體驗整個冒險過程的感覺，主視角和俯視角之間的轉換也是極為自然流暢的，玩家不再是一個被動的事件觀察者，而是全新的融入故事之中，同時體驗傑克·迪瑞克和金鋼兩個角色各自所面臨的不同危機。」但這樣的說法仍然讓人質疑，畢竟視角的來回轉換總會讓游戲劇情被分割開來，玩家也不能完完整整的體驗到冒險的過程，或許從玩家的角度來說，就是犧牲游戲的連貫性，換取游戲的視覺沖擊。
既然說道電影特效在游戲中的大量運用，那麼現在就讓我們去領略一番，在E3大展演示片段中，一開始，游戲以傑克·迪瑞克的主視角來展開劇情，他躺在懸崖邊上昏迷不醒，在遠處的一個懸崖上正在舉行古老的祭祀活動，一個名叫安妮·達羅（Ann Darrow）女孩作為獻給骷髏島之神「金剛」的祭品，而被幫在木架上，木架突然從懸崖上滾落下來，由於害怕驚恐，安妮·達羅不停的發出驚恐的尖叫，就在此時，巨大的金剛捶胸頓足咆哮著走出來，他四處張望著，抓起安妮·達羅就迅速的消失在叢林之中，緊接著，兩名探險家救了你，你們離開懸崖，但是卻受到土著長矛的攻擊，你們被迫無奈也尾隨著進入叢林，尋找金剛和安妮·達羅的蹤跡，並最終逃出這片危機四伏的熱帶雨林。在演示片段的最後一幕，切換到金剛俯視角，充滿了恐龍的畫面似乎將我們帶到了侏羅紀的世界，不過，金剛畢竟是金剛，他的戰斗實力不容小覷，只見這個龐然大物一頓足，就將恐龍震倒在地，然後沖上前去，絲毫不畏懼恐龍的撕咬，雙拳出擊將其打倒在地。片段中的游戲冒險地點設定在有著壯觀的天然美景的骷髏島上，那裡有著茂密的叢林，是巨大的古生物恐龍的世界，當玩家踏上這片致命的恐怖之地時，就面臨著重重危機。雖然從演示片段中可以清晰的看出，在演示動畫中看似游戲側重點放在傑克·迪瑞克的主視角上，但游戲世界是以人類同恐龍大戰，以及大猩猩與恐龍之間的較量所組成的，因此，玩家、金剛和侏羅紀缺一不可。
游戲中古生物的AI非常高，他們總是會想方設法將傑克·迪瑞克和他的隊友逼到角落，再慢慢的凌虐，游戲中一般的武器，諸如火矛以及沖鋒槍，只能將恐龍等巨型生物擊退兩米左右的距離，你所能作的只是將它的速度減緩，並不能真正的對他們造成傷害，如果是強勁威力的武器，就可以殺死超大型的蜈蚣（我想製作小組想表達的應該是迅猛龍之類的吧，不過造型看上去真的很像大蜈蚣）、或是翼龍等生物。演示動畫中就有這樣一幕場景，你駕駛木筏順流而下，不幸被一個翼龍將木筏鑿出一個洞，而此時岸上正有兩只虎視耽耽的霸王龍追逐著你，你拿出手槍，向翼龍射擊，射殺翼龍之後，一隻霸王龍開始啃食翼龍的屍體，但另一隻霸王龍仍然對你窮追不舍，木筏速度減慢了，就在霸王龍即將抓住你的時候，點燃一根火把，投向岸邊的灌木叢，引燃大火，阻止霸王龍的腳步。當你面對數量眾多的生物時，你可以選擇逃跑，或選擇跳入河水中，不過，千萬別以為就此逃過一劫，河水中照樣是危險重重，先不說湍急的河水會把你沖向那裡，單是水下的暗礁和四處游弋的食人魚就會讓你的漂流旅程充滿危機，如果你想上岸。岸邊徘徊不走的恐龍會非常樂意你自動送上門，所以要想在古生物充斥的世界中生存下來，可不是一件容易的事情，玩家需要充分利用周圍的環境，叢林中有隨處可撿拾的木棒等武器。
