《聞香識女人》是 一部經典老片，記憶中應該看過，卻像一個失意者，記憶的發條發生了短路，全然對影片失去了印象。但再次觀看回味起時，卻是另有一番香味在心頭，就如這影片的名字，初看這部片名，以為是跟香水和女人有關，實則意義更加深遠。
故事開場以校園生活為背景展開敘述：查理是一名在校學生，他跟現今社會貧困家庭的孩子一樣，要依靠自己的努力爭取拿獎學金或周末及放假外出兼職打工掙學費來完成學業。
線索一：在感恩節到來之際，學校放假，他看到一則招聘信息：一對年輕夫婦准備外出，想請人照顧盲人叔叔幾天。於是查理登門應征，並如願以償。
線索二：在此期間某個夜晚的校園里，查理的同學（幾個富家子弟）設計了一場惡作劇，戲弄了校長。而這一切，恰被查理及另一個同學看到。當校長得知查理知情後，讓他說出惡作劇學生的名字，並許諾保送查理進哈佛大學。否則就進不了哈佛。然而查理就是不願做告密者，守口如瓶。於是校長大怒，召開全體師生大會，准備懲罰開處查理……
查理要照顧的人弗蘭克是個帥氣的老男人，二戰時曾是中校，在一次意外事故中雙目失明，退伍後和侄女——羅西太太一家住在一起。由於傷殘，中校對生活充滿悲觀，性情爆躁，他躲在自己的世界裡，用酒精及與女人通電話爆粗口來故意製造糜爛的生活，對於侄女對他的照顧也毫不領情。當查理與中校初次見面，中校盛氣凌人，罵他笨蛋，諷刺他的家庭，為此查理想打退堂鼓，後經羅西太太的勸說留了下來。
當侄女一家准備開車走時。中校也正悄悄的讓查理幫他打點行裝。當侄女一次次與他告別，他急不耐煩，他對著查理自言自語的說：今天已經告別三次了，怎麼搞的？！她有分離焦慮症？實則他的不耐煩恰恰反應出他自身的焦慮。他的焦慮感是他怕侄女闖進房間打亂他出行的計劃。 試問現今高節奏的生活，有多少人敢說自己沒有焦慮過？！
當查理問他去哪兒，他說要去紐約看畸形人展，查理擔心沒有經過女主同意私自帶中校外出責任太大。想電話告知羅西太太，結果被中校阻止，無耐查理只好聽從中校安排，隨其同行。
中校準備好了：機票、錢、演講稿（個人認為應該是心願清單）， 坐頭等艙踏上了瀟灑的旅程。看似瀟灑的背後，其實是一場驚天動地的陰謀正在發生。
他有一個小小的快樂之旅的心願清單，一個人無法完成，所以需要一個導盲幫他實行計劃，這個計劃比較像旅行。所以他才帶上查理來紐約住高檔飯店，品美味佳餚。駕法拉利兜風，攜美女跳探戈，完全生活在浪漫奢華的氛圍中……
他的心願清單如下：

然後有美女，跑車…
再然後，躺在沃爾多夫的豪華大床上，舉槍飲彈自殺……
那麼這一系列類似的心願清單，是否在我們現實中生活中很多人也在上演呢?!是的，的的確確很多。 那些不得志意外失去四肢的人；那些深度的抑鬱症患者；那些被病魔折騰的死去活來的癌症患者以及被其他病痛折魔的體無完膚的人等等，假設他們無法足夠堅強、無法從痛苦中走出，他們估計也會給自己計劃一張心願清單…… 只是不一定都能如願以償……
中校的心願清單一個個在完成中，豪華餐廳、美酒佳餚已如願。接著他要去看望他大哥一家人，由於他的壞脾氣，家人對他的行為很不解，自然而然態度冷淡，由此可見親情的淡漠，這是他心願清單中的一大遺憾！誰都沒有發現他這樣的反常行為，也許將會是最後的遺願！
所以希望在我們生活中的每個人，一定要懂得感恩生活，珍惜生活，善待身邊的每一個人，因為誰也無法預料，意外會在哪一刻發生。

中校和查理在餐廳里聞到了身邊的空氣中飄來一股清香，於是向查理打聽鄰座位置上姑娘的大概輪廓，接著他倆計劃去偶遇這位年輕的姑娘，上演了一場老男人如何教涉世未深的小女人跳探戈的優雅舞姿的場景……
影片中值得記錄的兩句話 ：
有些人一分鍾內過盡一生。 （個人觀點：說明時間的珍貴性，不要在等待中錯失光陰）
探戈和人生不一樣，無所謂對錯。簡單就是探戈的魅力，哪怕步子亂成一團，跳下去就好了。 (個人觀點：這跟禪繞畫一樣，沒有對錯之分，一筆一劃皆有無限可能，所以才不會有精神負擔，生活才會得以輕松)
這兩句話如此有深度的話很好的釋權了生活，值得我們去好好思考。
與其說中校在撩妹，不如說他在給大家上了一堂課堂上沒有的無比珍貴的社會大課。就如探戈的舞步只有理論知識還是遠遠不夠的，必須要去實踐。 理論加實踐，才能舞出美好的人生。
中校心願清單系列之——駕法拉利兜風
中校和查理在車行想租車，銷售員不同意，中校只好使出殺手鐧花錢向銷售員走後門，才如願租了一輛他中意的紅色法拉利跑車。他們駕上車在並不寬敞的馬路上穿街走巷。中校認為查理開的不夠快不夠刺激，就執意強行自己開，查理迫不得已只好坐在在旁邊當指揮員。上校雖眼盲但心卻不盲， 那一刻他鮮紅的生命力彷彿已經跟法拉利的紅渾然一體。 他憑著熟練的駕駛技巧在查理的指揮下撤馬賓士，忘乎所己，完全忘了自己是個盲人。也許他知道身邊有一個信任的人在指揮著，早已吃了一顆定心丸，更何況這也是他心願清單的最後一場，所以一定要轟轟烈烈。沒有什麼可以阻礙他前行的道路。他瘋狂的舉動卻把坐在一旁的查理給驚嚇壞了，以致於叫警車才迫使中校停下來。
中校心願清單系列之—— 舉槍飲彈自殺
當中校的心願全部完成了，他開始了他最後的行動。在行動中，他支開了查理，讓查理幫他買雪茄，查理在途中預感到了不妙的事情即將發生，於是中止了賣雪茄立馬返回酒店。沒有遲一步也沒有早一步，那一刻中校正舉槍要飲彈自盡。查理不顧一切的耐心勸慰著頑固任性的中校，來阻止了這場自殺陰謀。中校被查理不昔一切要拯救自己的行為感動，感悟到人性的純真美好，放棄了自殺念頭，重獲新生。
誰又會知道，就這么短短的幾天時間里，兩個陌生且有點格格不入的兩個人，經歷過一些事情，能完全相互了解對方，看清了對方身上真正的品質，怎不叫人動容。也許這就是緣份，是上天互派對方來拯救自己的那個人。這一切彷彿將陌生變成了熟悉，熟悉變成了陌生(與自己最親近的血緣（親哥）關系的人卻是那麼的陌生)。 也許人生就是這樣，無需太熟，只要懂你即可。
